  Updates and Upgrades
Toontrack Music has announced that it has updated its EZplayer Pro to version 1.0.1. New features and bug fixes include:

  • Sync to host transport start/stop.
  • Sync to host song position.
  • Drumcore/Kitcore wrappers.
  • Fixed velocity knob and tooltips, which occasionally caused crashes.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a crash when playing a track and the host was not playing.
  • Loading a project where kit pieces had been used on tracks no longer causes a crash.
  • Sending all notes off when all tracks and the browser is stopped, prevents hanging notes.
  • Deselecting auto-rewind no longer sets the playhead to end position when stopping.
  • Auto-rewind returns playhead to where it started previously (not beginning of track).

  • DigiTech HardWire CM-2 - This Tube Overdrive guitar pedal gives you incredibly rich tone when you engage it - and completely true signal bypass when it's off. The pros choose pedals with true bypass because it's the only way you're going to keep your tone exactly the way you want it between your guitar and amp. The CM-2 also features high-voltage operation for improved headroom over lesser "conventional" pedals, plus a 2-position Classic/Modeled voicing switch and Level, Gain, Low, and High tone controls. Great tone is yours with the CM-2!

  • DigiTech HardWire SC-2 - This Valve Distortion guitar pedal provides the classic, prototypical British tone straight to your amp, plus true bypass when it's disengaged. The SC-2 also features special high-voltage operation for improved headroom over other "conventional" pedals, plus a 2-position Crunch/Scoop voicing switch and Level, Gain, Low, and High tone controls. What's more, all HardWire pedals feature true bypass switching, so your tone doesn't get sucked away when the pedal is off. You'll experience incredible crunch tones with the SC-2!

  • DigiTech HardWire TL-2 - Here is a Metal Distortion guitar pedal that lets you kick on raging tones, and its true bypass means crystal clarity when it's disengaged. The TL-2 also features special high-voltage operation for improved headroom over your average "conventional" pedals, plus a 2-position Tight/Loose voicing switch and Level, Gain, Low, and High tone controls. Want massive tone that will blow away your audience? Look no further than the TL-2 and hear how far your massive tones can go!

  Guitar of the Day
If you have ever looked longingly at a Paul Reed Smith Singlecut, which everyone knows is one of the hottest guitar on the planet right now, but were totally bummed because you couldn't afford one? If so, we have a question for you: How does $599.97 sound? No, that's not a typo - it's what we're actually selling the PRS SE Singlecut for. Yes, they are built overseas, but to PRS's exacting specifications. They have been hard to keep in stock, and for good reason: They play amazingly well and sound awesome - then there's that affordable price tag! In stock right now are Grey Black and Black versions, though we have orders in for both the Tobacco Sunburst and Blue Matteo versions. What's so awesome about these guitars is that, unlike so-called "budget versions" of some other famous guitars, you aren't forced into making a huge compromise in terms of looks, sound quality, and playability. Most people will look at your new SE Singlecut and simply see a gorgeous PRS guitar! So what's the difference between an SE and a standard Singlecut? Not much!

Both have a tropical mahogany back with a maple top, but the SE has a flame maple veneer rather than a carved top. (You still get the natural maple edge "binding" that PRS made famous.) The 22-fret mahogany neck is almost indistinguishable from a standard Singlecut (plus it comes with the same wide-fat neck carve). The rosewood fingerboard has the classic PRS abalone and pearl "moon inlays." The electronics consist of a pair of PRS-designed treble and bass coverless pickups, which sound great. And that's it. Of course, as we already mentioned, to keep costs down, these instruments are built overseas, but most of the work is done by sophisticated carving machines, with only the fine details left to the most talented team members. But don't listen to us. Go to the Sweetwater Guitar Gallery and look for yourself. And remember that each and every SE Singlecut is examined and played by longtime PRS employees to make absolutely certain they meet or exceed expectations! They are also given our own 55-point inspection by our highly qualified guitar techs, so you know it's ready to play right out of the box. Each includes free FedEx delivery to your door.

Contour Amount
This is a control parameter that is designed to regulate the amount of an envelope that is applied to a specific destination, which is typically a filter or VCA. It is worth noting that the sustain control, which is part of the envelope generator, sets the sustain level relative to the peak, which is represented by the highest level of the attack parameter, while the contour amount control increases or decreases the entire envelope - including the peak - proportionally.

Stay in Tune...with Garage Band?
That's right! Beginning with Apple's Garage Band 3 (the most current version), there's a built-in instrument tuner to help you keep your live instruments (like your favorite electric guitar or bass) in tune with Garage Band's built-in palette of software instruments. To access it, enable a Real Instrument track (just click on the red Record Enable button on the track). In the time display, click the tuning fork icon in the upper left corner to access the tuner. The tuner displays a green light once you have hit perfect pitch. Note: You can get more accurate tuning by rolling off the treble to some degree on your guitar, that way harmonics won't confuse the tuner.
